Educational Institution and Student Discounts.I really hope I can fine tune my workflow with next years' Photos application, but if not I'll continue as Aperture won't all of a sudden stop working. This way my photos are managed and on SSD, and the videos are referenced and on HDD. In the Finder I rename the videos to my preference, and I import them as referenced into Aperture. My workflow is to import my photos into Aperture, whilst the phone is docked, and I manually copy over the videos from Image Capture into a folder. Only when I import my photos and videos into Aperture, others can see my videos after I've shared them on a Shared Stream. I say this as iCloud is indeed capable of storing videos, yet it only syncs photos by default. Whilst iMovie and FCP are really good editing suites, the asset management leaves to be desired. Not the end of the wold by any means, but I wish things were a little "more structured" for the lack of a better term. In fairness I never did much with movies to create a workflow and Apple doesn't offer much in suggesting one. This is what I don't like now, I have videos in Aperture and in iMovie. And the fact that I'm lucky enough to pop in a larger HDD into my oMP when I need to makes it even more. Most don't get forwarded to or seen by friends as I don't have time to edit out the nonsense and create really nice 4 second scenes. I also wish I had more time to edit videos. A couple dozen TB hard drives would also be nice. Video is an arena in which I wish I had more time to play. ![]()
